Publishing as Self-institutioning | Skulpturenpark, Berlin
In 2006, Matthias Einhoff, Philip Horst, Markus Lohmann, Harry Sachs and Daniel Seiple appropriated an under-developed green and vacant space between the districts of Berlin-Mitte and Kreuzberg in Berlin, and established the art collective, KUNSTrePUBLIK, to operate and maintain it as Skulpturenpark Berlin_Zentrum. Skulpturenpark Berlin_Zentrum is an urban jungle surrounded by drab apartment and office buildings, demarcated by makeshift fences and overgrown with weeds, bushes and trees, and strewn with the remains of pre-WWII edifices.
Collective Gestures of Reading
In 2010, a book documenting the genealogy of Skulpturenpark and surrounging issues was published by Verlag der Buchhandlung Walther König. Skulpturenpark Berlin_Zentrum tackles the questions of public and private space and presents the sociological and economical perspectives of this art project on an area of disused land in the middle of Berlin.
