CAMILLA SøRENSEN
Period of residency: august/september 2009
// about
Camilla is—together with Greta Christensen—part of the artist collective Vinyl -terror & -horror. They focus on sound, installation, mobil-culture and architectural constructions in urban space. "It is a ongoing process where one project leads to the next. When situations change the focus in the project changes. The challenge and the potential is to make it work in different situations: indoor, outdoor, in art contexts, festivals, on a constructing site or on a camping area. The context opens new meanings and new clashes. Balancing between very different presentation places and forms we sample and mix aesthetics and energies."

____Vinyl -Terror & -Horror @ Subvision Festival
While beeing artist-in-resicence Camilla was part of Sparwasser HQ's participation in the festival Subvision in Hamburg. There Vinyl -Terror & -Horror created an installation for the container, a machinery of old record players, beautifully served by invisibly hands. 8 newly produced records were speeding up an down, record player pick-up arms were lifting and lading on front and back side of floating vinyls. During this concert of scratch, flying sand, container and the sentimentality of old mould were toned down by the beauty of ghosty perfection.
During three weeks the festival functioned as a conference for independent projects and international artist collectives, offering a rich possibility to exchange and make contacts with 100 participating artists and the public present. The festival was also the site for a local struggle between common right and capital, questioning the intentions of urban planning in Hamburg, the local art scene demanding the visiting artist groups to take side. Together with Vinyl-Terror &-Horror Sparwasser HQ showed the Canadian artist collective Instant Coffee that had been artist in residence with the help of the Danish International Visiting Artists Exchange Programme.
