Amerika
This is a clean white gallery space. Opening in March this year, this is a new addition to the landscape of artist-run spaces here. Photography, installation, sculpture. There are 20 artists involved, who established the space, funding it themselves, employing a gallerist to represent them and organise the shows, changing monthly, showing each of the artists, 2 at a time. It has been conceived as a 2 year project, a space they have for 2 years to show their work in Berlin, a city that can be hard to garner any visibility in, due to the concentration of galleries and reputations already existing, they told me. They are young, fairly, they studied together at Leipzig, and now, having combined economic and adventuring forces, they have their own commercial gallery in Berlin.
