Raum5
A collective of 7 artists, who studied together in east Berlin, and their tutor. Painting, drawing, sculpture, photography. The space is run and funded by the artists themselves. It felt like a very ordinary gallery in ways, mainly definedby quite traditional work, and styles that struck me as rather dated. The space seemed uninterested in engaging around the obvious format of simply displaying work, and clearly doesn’t identify with other trends emerging in Berlin. The insistance on this particular aesthetic might offer something refreshing, but I just found it dull.
