INVITATION

The objective of this workshop is to investigate how female art workers relate to contemporary artwork with conceptual tendencies.
The following questions are relevant starting-points of discussion and art-making:
How are gender-related meanings expressed in contemporary artwork?
How do art workers, communicators, and readers of artwork relate to gender topics (especially feminism) in their own works of art or in their communication of artwork by others?

A member of the Sparwasser HQ team will be present to assist and document the seminar.

HIGHLIGHTS

the work must be within the framework of contemporary art concerned with dialogue

the work can affect communication, theory, and history - and it can be made in direct relation to the subject

the work can take the form of: article, video, web, presentation, lecture, discussion, etc.
. the site The little garden is used as the superior context for artwork made by participants

the periodical THE LITTLE GARDEN - artwork is used as a communicative organ and a forum for the artwork. Issue no. 4/3 and 4/4, 2004 at the end of July

10:30 ­ 11:30: Charlotte Mosen Jensen:
Introduction to the project The little garden / THE LITTLE GARDEN ­ artwork.
Focusing on the feministic relations that occurred in the field of contemporary artwork with conceptual tendencies I'll present the project work and provide opportunity for further discussion.

11:30 ­ 12:30: Sonia Hedstrand, Åsa Elzén:
Systerskapets År,
video project, a document on the subject of feminism. The project documents various feminist activities in the area of Stockholm, Sweden. These include: demonstrations, seminars, and activities with cultural content.

12:30 ­ 1:00: BREAK

1:00 ­ 2:00: Claudia Reinhardt:
Claudia Reinhardt, a Berlin-based artist, will show and talk about her work.

2:00 ­ 3:00: Stef. Engel:
The "Artist Barbie" and/or Bildwechsel, an organization from Hamburg (www.bildwechsel.org)

3:00 ­ 4:00: discussion:
Themes of the workshop are given priority. The aim of discussion is to communicate female art workers' contemporary artwork, and to attempt to answer the question of how gender-related meanings are expressed in contemporary artwork.
As a participant in the workshop, you may produce short contributions for discussion.

4:00 ­ 5:00: gathering:
What will be published in issues 4/3 and 4/4 2004? What is the basis of the work? Look through products of the workshop, make editing agreements (who is editing, according to what principles or guidelines), etc.
As a participant in the workshop, you may produce artwork, articles, and other contributions to issue 4/3 2004, which will act as a further communication of the workshop. A participant or a group of participants are given the opportunity to edit 4/3 2004. The issue can be published as a traditional paper version, but other versions, e.g. multimedia, are possible and encouraged.
